The Racó de Missa vineyard sits high in the mountains of La Morera, at 700 metres. It is co-planted: Garnacha, Garnacha Peluda, Carignan and white grapes grow side by side, mixed in the same rows. It is not one variety with a little help from others. It is the whole vineyard in one wine.
Up there, the grapes ripen slowly and reach about 12.5% alcohol, below the minimum for the DOQ Priorat. So Esllavissada stays outside the appellation, free to be exactly what the mountain gives.
In the glass, an explosion of red fruit and sottobosco, the forest floor: damp earth, leaves, and those tiny wild strawberries you find in the woods, the very small ones. It has a very soft start and an extremely long finish, with depth and complexity. If you know Les Manyes or Marcenca, you will recognize a touch of both, taken somewhere more elevated. It is powerful, but not in strength. Powerful in elegance and depth.
We offer up to 6 bottles per person because quantities are limited.
